The blossoms on my plum trees are already opening, Spring has come early, and abundantly; full of so much promise and alive with purpose and possibility. We have begun a great year and it is with gratitude we welcome new students and friends, and the ongoing evolution of our work

We at AWW are proud of our relationship with Carmel Valley Athletic Club. It is a perfect fit. The venue is beautiful; the staff is wonderful. It is a great, eclectic group of people and it is the perfect place for us; we love it. We will schedule depending on CVAC's availability our local classes there. CVAC will welcome their club members and non-members alike to join our classes, although CVAC members enjoy a slightly better rate.

Axel Binneboese, the General Manager has been very open to working with us. The goal for their work is, as is ours, the creation of community and an ongoing commitment to personal growth, health and awareness.

Bridget McKay is a recent graduate of Awakening the Warrior Within and has become an advocate of the work. She works at CVAC and is one of our liaisons there. She is always ready to share her experience and answer questions from the perspective of a graduate.

"Awakening the Warrior Within"

"We trained for 7 straight days with 5 Grandmasters. Hatsumi Soke of Ninjutsu, Machida Kancho of the Enbukan, Doshu Moretei Ueshiba of Aikido, Kondo Soke of Daito ryu Aikijutsu, and of course Julio Kancho of Seibukan Jujutsu! I received my 5^th Dan in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu passing the Sakki test. I felt really accomplished and also got to see the old Shogun's palace in Nikko along with some great food and a run in with some wild monkey's!! As a martial artist I could not have asked for a better trip: hard training and new experiences!"

Just as a reminder: here is the Warrior's Code:

1. Pay Attention.: Stay in the present. It's the only place anything is really happening.
2. Take Responsibility.: This is your life, take it back. Either you get to own it, or you blame someone or something else for why it's not working.
3. Don't Take Any Abuse.: Accepting abuse from any source destroys your self-esteem. Stand up to your tyrants, both external and internal. The cost is too great not to.
4. No Whining.: No kvetching, no sniveling; it takes you out of the present. It is impossible to take responsibility if you are not in the present.
5. Do It Anyway.: Hard choices temper our strength and our integrity; they make the difference between a life of excellence and a life of mediocrity.
6. Don't Quit.: Look at what stops you, at where you give up the effort. That is where you'll discover the line that separates Warriors from victims.
7. Keep Your Agreements.: A Warrior is only as good as his or her word. The way we build self-trust and trust in others is by making and keeping agreements.
8. Keep Your Sense of Humor.: Otherwise what's the point? Humor helps us to stretch beyond our own limits.
9. Love One Another.: Otherwise where's the meaning? It's the way we remember we're not alone in this universe.
10. Honor Your Connection to Spirit.: There is a force in the Universe, greater than ourselves, that creates us, sustains us, provides for us, cares for us, guides us, and loves us. It speaks to us from within. Trust it.
